A study of softness, weight and the quiet comfort of the body. Stone depicts a woman resting on her side, her natural curves held against a deep, earthy background. Cool tones of charcoal, grey and white create a sense of stillness, while loose, expressive brushwork contrasts with the softness of the figure.
The body is presented without exaggeration or apology — soft, curvaceous and completely at ease. Almost sculptural in its simplicity, the work invites the viewer to consider the female form as something to inhabit and feel comfortable within, rather than something to perform.
